Assault and Robbery on New Street; Armed Robbery on Glenwood

The following information has been provided by the Bloomfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.


BURGLARY
Feb. 22: Bloomfield police are investigating an attempted burglary on the 100 block of Elmwood Avenue in which the burglars attempted to pry open the lock on a side door, but were unsuccessful. This is the second time a burglary attempt was made at this residence. 

STOLEN VEHICLES
Feb. 20: A 2002 Ford was stolen from the 200 block of Belleville Avenue.

Feb. 22: A 2006 Dodge station wagon was stolen from the 100 block of North 15 Street.

Feb. 22: A 2008 Honda was stolen from the 300 block of Ampere Parkway.

Feb. 27: A 1999 Saturn was stolen from the100 block of Maple Street.

ATTEMPT THEFT (AUTO)
Feb. 24: Thieves attempted to steal a 2003 Audi from the 200 block of Berkeley Avenue.

THEFT FROM VEHICLES
Feb. 22: Bloomfield police are investigating the attempted theft of items in a 1996 Ford on the 100 block of Lawrence Street. The door was open, but nothing was taken.

THEFT
Feb. 23: A woman on the 100 block of Belleville Avenue reported she fell asleep in the lobby of the building. When she awoke, she reported her yellow wallet with various forms of ID were missing.

Feb. 24: Bloomfield police are investigating the theft of a laptop from a basement on Valentine Road. Police report no sign of forced entry.

Feb. 25: A woman said she saw a woman, described as wearing a puffy coat, near her jacket on the 100 block of Broad Street. The victim said she noticed the woman leave the library in a hurry and the victim discovered her wallet was missing.

ROBBERY
Feb. 22: A man walking on Grove Street near Chester Avenue told police he was approached by three men who told him to “Give us your stuff.”

The men then began hitting the victim and grabbed his cell phone before fleeing onto Chester Avenue.

Feb. 23: A man sitting in his car on New Street was removed from the vehicle by a group of five men, beaten and robbed of his wallet.  He was able to escape and call police.

According to police, the men were wearing dark clothing and ski masks when they approached the driver, pulled him out of the car and physically assaulted him.

After the assault, the victim got in his car and drove home, where he contacted police.

Feb. 26: A man walking on the 100 block of Glenwood Avenue told police two men approached him from behind, turned him around, showed him a silver and black handgun and told him to empty his pockets.

The victim said the thieves took a slide phone and his wallet with his ID.

He said the suspect with the gun was 5-foot, 6-inches tall and wearing dark clothing. The other suspect was 6-feet tall with braids and a scarf around his neck, also wearing dark clothing.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
Feb. 22: A basement window was reported broken on the 100 block of Broad Street.

ARRESTS
Feb. 22:  Philip Johnson of Newark was arrested for outstanding warrants.

Feb. 22:  Carlos Rivera of Newark was arrested for shoplifting.

Feb. 23:  Raul Osortocalderon of Bloomfield was arrested for disorderly person.

Feb. 23:  Michael Bush of Newark was arrested for contempt.

Feb. 24:  Eric Santiago of Bloomfield was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and outstanding warrants.

Feb. 24:  Nelson Osorto of Newark was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Feb. 24:  Edward Shieman of Bloomfield was arrested for outstanding warrants.
