Man Shot, Killed on Beardsley Avenue

Name of 24-year-old withheld pending notification of family.

A 24-year-old man died from a gunshot wound on the 500 block of Beardsley Avenue early Saturday morning, according to acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray and Bloomfield Police Chief Christopher Goul.

According to the release, Bloomfield police were dispatched to the area around 3:30 a.m. Saturday on reports of a shooting, police said.

Police said they arrived to find a 24-year-old man outside with an apparent gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after police and emergency medical personnel arrived, the release said.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide and Major Crimes Task Force and the Bloomfield Police Department are continuing to investigate the shooting.

The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of his family.
