Man Attacked Outside 7-Eleven on Bloomfield Avenue

Police say attack on 54-year-old was possible road rage incident.

 

A 54-year-old man was punched and kicked by three men on August 7 outside the 7-Eleven on Bloomfield Avenue, according to the police department.

The victim said he was backing out of a parking space at 8:54 pm when he had to slam on his brakes because a BMW pulled up behind his car. He reported that he never hit the BMW but that as he pulled forward to get out of the way of the other car, three men got out and attacked him.

According to the police report, the assailants began punching him in the driver’s seat before eventually pulling him from the vehicle and punching and kicking him on the ground.

The victim suffered injuries to his face, ribs and back and was transported to Clara Maass Medical Center for treatment. He told police there was never any request to hand over money and the attackers never tried to take his car or wallet.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a 4-door silver BMW with Pennsylvania license plates. Police are investigating the attack as a possible road rage incident.
