A Bloomfield man resisted arrested and attempted to headbutt a police officer at a township bar that was serving alcohol after hours last weekend, police said.
Gorge Ramirez, 37, was charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, obstruction and resisting arrest.
According to a Bloomfield police report, as officers dispersed a large crowd at Glorias Bar on Broad Street on Saturday, Aug. 4 at about 1:50 a.m., they noticed a small crowd outside of the nearby Pueblos Bar.
The officers noticed there were still people inside the bar buying drinks, police said. Officers entered and asked about licensing and employee information for the bar.
Police said one patron, Ramirez, became resistant and combative toward the officers while they tried to sort out employees and customers.
Ramirez attempted to push his way past police, according to the report. When he was stopped and told he could not leave, he placed his hands in front of himself and said “lock me up," according to the report.
Ramirez was arrested. Police said while officers took him out of the building, he tried to break free from their control and headbutt one of the officers.
was brought back under control and taken to police headquarters where he was
charged and Judge Vincent Pirone set bail at $16,000. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
Pueblos Bar and its employees were cited for incomplete employee list, presence of non-employees after legal hour, failure to display proper warning posters and other violations.
