Drunk and Disorderly at Heartbreakers, Burglary at VIP

Police blotter for week of May 1-7, 2012. The following information was supplied by the Bloomfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction for any of the arrests listed.

 

BURGLARY

On May 5, a suspect entered the premises of V.I.P. Fitness at 437 Broad Street by forcing open a rear door.  Once inside, the suspect forced open an interior door and removed a cash drawer containing approximately $50.

Bloomfield police detectives, working with members of the community and video surveillance, were able to identify and arrest John Salvanto, age 40, previously from Belleville Avenue in Belleville, in connection with the burglary.

An anonymous tip allowed patrol division officers to locate Salvanto at the Essex Manor on Broughton Avenue.  Salvanto was arrested and charged with Burglary and Theft of Moveable Property. It was also discovered that the suspect had an outstanding warrant in Belleville for $1000.00 and was a listed as a wanted person out of Florida for a Violation of Probation.

On May 3, on the 100 block of State Street, an unknown person broke a lock off a storage unit and stole three Echo backpack blowers.

On May 6, two gold bracelets and 5 pairs of gold earrings were reportedly stolen from a residence on Weaver Avenue.  There were no signs of forced entry.

 

BURGLARY INTO AUTO

On May 6, two work trucks were broken into and various tools were stolen from them.  The trucks were parked on Beach Street.

On May 6, loose change was taken from a vehicle on Valentine Road.

 

STOLEN VEHICLE

On May 4, on Oak Street, a 2000 Hyundai with NJ license plates was stolen.

On May 5, on Henry Street, a 1992 Honda with NC license plates was stolen.

On May 4, a 2010 Dodge Ram vehicle that was left running was stolen on the premises of the Bloomfield Shopping Plaza at 135 Bloomfield Ave.

 

ATTEMPT THEFT AUTO

On May 2, on the 100 block of Saddler Road, a 2007 Infiniti with NJ license plates had its ignition damaged.  

 

 

THEFT FROM VEHICLES

On May 2, On Division Street, unknown items were stolen from a 1998 Ford Taurus.

 

THEFT

On May 2, on Austin Place, a woman reported that her Verizon cell phone, a NJ drivers license and $30 in cash were stolen from her pocketbook in the laundry room.

On May 6, on the 700 block of Broad Street, a woman reported that her mountain bike was taken from her garage. The door was open at time of the theft. 

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

On May 2, on the 100 block of Merkel Drive, the front storm window of a residence was broken.

 

ARRESTS

On May 1, Zavion Marriot from Bloomfield was arrested and charged with Robbery, Conspiracy and Burglary.

On May 2, Mirley Cantillo of Bloomfield was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

On May 3, Michael Brown of Bloomfield was driving near Grove Street and Bloomfield Avenue when officers made a motor vehicle stop.  After an odor of burnt marijuana was detected coming from the inside of the car and Brown admitted to having recently smoked marijuana, officers searched the car and found two packages of marijuana and several burnt marijuana cigarettes (1.5 grams.) 

Brown was taken to Police headquarters, where he was processed and charged with  posession of a controlled, dangerous substance.  Brown was also issued several moto vehicle summonses including driving with a suspended drivers license, failure to exhibit an insurance card, driving an unregistered vehicle, posession of a controlled, dangerous substance in a vehicle, DUI and  DUI within 1000 feet of a school.  He was issued a court date and released on his own recognizance.

On May 3, Juan Victoria of Newark was arrested outstanding warrants.

On May 6, Ernest Lehman of Bloomfield was arrested for DWI.

On May 6, Lazaro Gonzalez of Newark was arrested for Shoplifting.

On May 6, Angel Tirado of Newark was arrested for Obstruction.

On May 6, Alicea Levee of Newark  was arrested for Shoplifting.

On May 6, Anderson DeSouz of Belleville was arrested for Shoplifting.

On May 7, Heriberto Correa of Newark was arrested for Contempt.

On May 7, Jeremy Johnson of Bloomfield was arrested for Disorderly Conduct at the Heartbreakers Bar at 611 Bloomfield Avenue.

After Johnson was escorted outside by staff members, he attempted to re-enter the premises.  When police officers were called to the scene they found Johnson to be intoxicated and disorderly, yelling profanities and punching a metal traffic sign. After Johnson refused to comply with several warnings, he was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct.  He was transported to police headquarters, where he was issued a Town Summons, given a court date and released on his own recognizance.
