Couple Accused of Burglarizing Montclair Convenience Store

Bloomfield resident Marissa Winn told police, 'I wanted nothing to do with it,' report said.

A Bloomfield woman told police, “I wanted nothing to do with it”, when she and her boyfriend from Montclair were arrested early Friday morning for burglarizing a convenience store, Lt. Detective Angel Roman said.

Anthony Wiedemann, 41, and Marissa Winn, 35, face burglary charges after police said he took more than $300 from the News Plus on Valley Road. The cash was allegedly found that night in Winn's purse.

Police witnessed the pair attempt to flee in a taxi cab, which they pulled over after responding to the scene of the burglary at about 12:30 a.m. The cab was waiting for the couple that police said they saw come out of an alley around the corner from the business.

The officers noticed the man was wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap and matched the description of an intruder involved in recent burglaries, police said.

While Wiedemann was arrested for providing false identification to police, Winn broke into tears and told the officers she begged him to stay home, police said.

Winn told officers she knew Wiedemann had “done something bad” but she did not know what store he had gone into, according to the report. Police then found more than $340 in her purse, which she said her boyfriend told her to hold onto, according to the report.

During a search of Wiedemann’s home, police said, evidence was seized that links him to recent burglaries at the Lukoil at 632 Valley Road as well as residences on Heller Way and Wellesley Road.

Bail was set for both at $25,000 with no 10 percent option.

Multiple charges are pending.
