Burka-Wearing Crooks Claimed to Have Bomb, Tried to Rob Check Cashing Store

Would-be robbers left without taking anything, police say.

Two people claiming to have a bomb tried to rob a Bloomfield check cashing business on Wednesday, police said.

Police said two black people, whose genders were obscured by their clothes and their silence, entered the Bloomfield Avenue check cashing business at approximately 1:45 p.m.

A person described as between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-8, wearing a full gray burka and black boots, passed a note to a teller reading “this is a robbery no funny money, no alarms I have a bomb,” according to police.
