BPD Arrests Teens and Adult for String of Robberies

Three juveniles and one adult male were charged in connection with three township robberies.

The Bloomfield Police Department Detective Division and Youth Aid Bureau have made several arrests in connection with robberies that occurred in February and March.

Police say the robberies include the March 8 street crime where four assailants jumped and robbed a 44-year-old Bloomfield man.

Police say two of the suspects were allegedly involved in a failed robbery of a liquor store involving a fake gun. In addition, police believe the four suspects are also connected to a February robbery of a Mini-Mart store.

Davonte Deans, 19, of Bloomfield was charged with robbery and held on a $100,000 bond for his alleged part in the Belleville Avenue robbery. He was transported to Essex County Jail to await a court appearance.

The other suspects, who were not identified because of their age, were charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and transported to the Essex County Youth House.

Police said a watch stolen during the street robbery on Belleville Avenue was recovered from one of the juveniles and returned to the victim. 

In the robberies of the Mini Mart and Liquor Store, one of the juveniles was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. The other youth was charged with two counts of armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, police said.
