Report: Bloomfield Police Promotions Revoked

Two police officers' promotions were denied because they were on expired lists while a retroactive appointment was denied to another officer.

The New Jersey Civil Service Commission revoked the promotions of two Bloomfield police officers because the town council had used expired lists to promote them, according to a report from Bloomfield Life.

Sgt. John Sierchio and Lt. Joseph Krentz, who were promoted in January by the council, are the two affected police officers, the report states. The commission also denied a retroactive appointment for back pay to Sgt. Anthony Argento, who also serves as president of the local police union.

The two police officers were ranked on promotion lists that were no longer applicable after March last year, the report states.
