Bloomfield Man Killed in Parkway Crash

The incident occurred around 6:03 a.m. Sunday

A Bloomfield man was killed early Sunday morning in Irvington after he lost control of his vehicle while driving north on the Garden State Parkway, according to NJ State Police Sgt. Brian Polite.

Marcus Findlay, 23, was pronounced dead on the scene, as was his passenger, Patricia Edmond, 27, of Union, after the accident occurred around 6:03 a.m. Sunday.

According to Polite, preliminary investigations suggest that Findlay was driving his 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer northbound in the right lane at a high rate of speed.

"The driver failed to maintain control after negotiating a bend in the road," Polite said. "He ran off the roadway to the right, and impacted the end of the guard rail."

From there, Polite said, the vehicle continued over the guard rail, traveled up the embankment and struck a steel post support.
