East Orange residents accused of trying to rob a man outside a check cashing business.

Two East Orange men were arrested last week after trying to rob a 49-year-old Bloomfield man, police said.

Adeeb Salih, 21 and Vincent Williams, 20, approached the victim while he was walking on Grove Street toward East Orange after leaving a check cashing business, police said.

Salih and Williams demanded money from the man shortly after he stepped onto the street, police said.

The victim said Salih placed his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun, according to police. The victim ran to a friend’s house before the men could take anything from him, police said.

Officer Michael McCracken found the two men who matched the description provided by the victim on the 200 block of Ampere Parkway. After the victim identified the men, Salih and Williams were arrested and each charged with robbery, police said.
