A Bloomfield man was arrested for having a taser, police said.
Romel Fairley-Jones, 18, was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon
On Sunday at approximately 10:35 p.m., Officer Michael Malia and Sgt. Nicholas Polidoro responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of Bloomfield Avenue and Ella Street when they noticed Fairley-Jones. Police said Fairley-Jones appeared to be trying to avoid contact with officers.
Officer Malia stopped him for questioning to see if he was involved in the disturbance.
Malia determined Fairley-Jones possessed a hand-held Taser stun gun, police said. Malia arrested him and confiscated the Taser.
Jones was taken to police headquarters. Judge Vincent Pirone set bail at $5,000 and a court
date of Wednesday is pending.
