Bloomfield Homeowner Scares Off Intruder
Burglar fled North 15th Street home when he came face-to-face with the resident, police said.
A would-be burglar was scared off when he came face-to-face with a resident inside a North 15th Street home last week, Bloomfield Police said.
According to a Bloomfield police report, on Thursday, May 30 a burglar tried to break into a North 15th Street home he believed was not occupied.
The burglar, described as a black male about 6 feet tall, weighing 210 to 220 pounds with short cropped hair, in blue jeans and a T-shirt, rang the doorbell at 10 a.m. to see if anyone was home, police said.

When there was no response, the burglar used a pry bar and possibly a sledge hammer to force open the front door, police said. Once inside the home, he came face-to-face with the homeowner.
When the burglar saw the resident, he ran and jumped into a grey Chevy SUV occupied by a second black male and drove off, police said. The SUV is believed to be a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer that was stolen from East Orange.
