Bloomfield Driver Knocks Down Pedestrian in Verona

Driver cited for careless driving, failure to yield on Bloomfield Avenue Thursday

 

A 43-year-old Bloomfield woman struck a Verona pedestrian crossing Bloomfield Avenue when a car failed to yield to her in the crosswalk, police said Thursday.

The 54-year-old Verona resident, whose identity was not released, was crossing from Lakeside Avenue at approximately 7:45 a.m. when she was hit by the car and knocked down. She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson by ambulance. Verona Police Chief Doug Huber said the woman was alert and conscious at the scene, and that the hospital reported her in stable condition a few hours later.
