UPDATE: Blaze Wipes Out Third Floor of Spring Street Home

House is uninhabitable after fire sweeps through apartment.

The cause of a two-alarm fire that swept through the third-floor apartment at 74  Spring St. last night is under investigation but is not considered suspicious, according to Bloomfield Fire Chief Joseph McCarthy.

Firefighters responded to a call at 5:30 p.m. at the three-family home and had the blaze under control at 6:10 p.m., McCarthy said. One neighbor said flames could be seen shooting from the third-floor window when crews arrived.

No one was home when the fire broke out and there were no injuries reported.
