Prowlers in the Basement

The following information was provided by the Bloomfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Jan.11: A homeowner in the100 block of Birch Street reported that an unknown person entered the home through a basement window and removed an X-Box game. The victim’s daughter was home at the time. The daughter said she did hear noises but thought it was her brother who lives in the basement.

Jan. 11: A resident in the 30 block of Brookdale Gardens Apartments said he left his home at 3:15pm and returned at 11:20 pm. to find his bedroom windows open with the screens removed.  The only things he reported missing were 2 musical flutes.

Jan. 12: A resident in the 50 block of Spruce Street reported that a Cannon camera was stolen when an unknown person entered his apartment, possibly through a window.

Jan. 12: Another resident in the 50 block of Spruce Street reported that an unknown person entered his apartment through an unlocked window. Missing is an IPod Touch and a set of master keys.

Jan. 12: A resident of the 800 block of Broad Street said an unknown person entered his residence and removed jewelry and electronic equipment including a Dell tower, an Acer laptop, an Sony digital camera and a PS2 game console.  Entry point was a rear door, according to the victim.

Jan. 12: Residents of the 250 block of Essex Avenue reported that an unknown person entered their residence by smashing a rear window. Missing items: 3 laptops and a PS3 game console. 

Jan. 13:   On the 50 block Petit Street, a resident reported that an unknown person broke into his basement by removing a rear basement window.  It did not appear that anything had been removed from the house at this time. 

 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

Jan. 12: A business owner at 211 Grove Street reported that an unknown person entered his storage unit which still had the lock intact and in place. The victim stated his last access was sometime in December 2011. Missing items: 50 watches, 3 guitars, 1 banjo, 1 trumpet, clothing, baseball memorabilia, vintage radios and toys.

Jan. 13: Another owner of a storage unit at 211 Grove Street reported that several items were stolen.  Missing from her storage unit were a Dell computer and a Panasonic 52-inch television with Panasonic surround sound.

Jan. 15: A restaurant owner at 390 Broad Street discovered that, at 10:30am when she opened the door, an unknown suspect had broken the front window, entered the premises and stolen a cash register that contained $100.

Jan. 13:  300 block Ampere Parkway.  2004 Acura MDX white. Temp Tag Only.

Jan. 15: 100 block Watsessing Ave.  1996 Honda Civic red. 

 

ATTEMPTED THEFT OF VEHICLES

Jan. 14: 100 block Newark Avenue.  2001 Dodge 4dr silver. 

Jan. 14: 100 block Newark Avenue.  2002 Dodge Van blue. 

 

THEFT FROM VEHICLES

Jan. 16:  A resident on the 300 block of Belleville Avenue reported that an unknown person stole his fire pit from his yard. The victim also reported that his grill was moved.  

 

ROBBERY

None

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Jan. 11:  50 block Whitman St. 2012 Chevy scratched front to back.

Jan. 11:  An unknown person attempted to gain entry through a garage door on the 100 block North 16 Street.  Entry was not gained.

Jan. 13:  A man reported that the windows of his Jeep were broken on the 100 block of Broad Street.

Jan. 14:  Police received a report that, on the 200 block of Grove Street at 12:27 am, a group of juveniles broke a storefront window.

Jan. 11:  George Ward of Newark was arrested for Shoplifting.

Jan. 13:  Henry Smith of Maplewood was arrested for Burglary, Theft, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief, Receiving Stolen property.

Jan. 13:  Elijah Smith of Newark was arrested for Burglary, Theft, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief, Receiving Stolen property.

Jan. 13:  Randy Denude of Clifton, N.J. was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Jan. 14:  Ahmed Soliman of Caldwell, N.J. was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Jan. 15:  Aniyah Rivera of East Orange, N.J. was arrested for shoplifting.

Jan. 15:  Gallman Quawee of Caldwell, N.J. was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Jan. 15:  Christopher Padula of Saddle Brook, N.J. was arrested for DWI.

Jan. 15:  Antonino Reyes of Long Branch, N.J. was arrested for DWI.

Jan. 16:  Angel Diaz Jr. of West Orange, N.J. was arrested for outstanding warrants.

Jan. 16:  Christopher Chung of Belleville, N.J. was arrested for DWI.
