Armed Robber Hits Two Bloomfield Gas Stations

Police suspect that the same man was involved in both armed robberies last night.

An armed robber stole approximately $650 from two Bloomfield service stations within minutes of each other last night and then flee with another person in a black sedan, police said.

In the first incident at 6:30 p.m., Capt. Joe Pulido, Bloomfield Police spokesman, said an armed robber walked up to an attendant at the Delta gas station at Bloomfield Avenue and Park Street, pointed a black semi-automatic handgun, demanded money, and shoved the weapon on the right side of the victim.

The robber then reached into the victim's front side pocket and pulled out $150, Pulido said. He then struck the attendant on the shoulder and fled on Park Street.

About five minutes later, Pulido said, a robber, fitting the same description, walked up to a worker at the booth of the Sunoco at 72 Bloomfield Avenue, pointed a black semi-automatic handgun, and demanded, "Gimme the money."

After the robber pushed the attendant into the booth, a second worker walked over, Pulido said. The suspect racked the chamber of the weapon, making it ready to fire, and pointed it at the second worker.

One of the attendants handed over $500, Pulido said. The robber then fled on foot north on 17th Street

Witnesses told police they saw the suspected robber enter a black sedan on the vehicle's passenger side and flee south on 17th Street, Pulido said. A description on the driver or any other occupants was not available today.

At both incidents, Pulido said, the robber has been described as a black male in his early 30s, bearded, and sporting sunglasses. He was last seen wearing light blue jeans, a tan or grey jacket, and a hoody or wool cap,
