MITZVAH DAY at Temple Ner Tamid

Save the date for Sunday, May 22, 2011!   Look at all the offerings we'll have:

  • Mitzvah Mile: Walkathon to rise money to feed the hungry
  • Feed the Hungry: Cook for a soup kitchen (bring knife, cutting board, peeler labeled with a name, vegetables)
  • Breakfast Anyone?: Create breakfast bags for those in need (bring some of the following (small sizes): cereal, long-life milk, granola bars, fruit cups, packets
  • Spruce It Up: Gardening/beautification of Temple grounds (bring small gardening tools and work gloves if possible)
  • Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Game show about hunger in the United States AND a social action lobbying project.
  • Healthy Eating is a Mitzvah! You are what you eat!
  • Take Care of Our Earth: Zero Waste Living

Off Site projects will also be offered (pre-registration is required)

  • Supermarket grocery collection for the food bank
  • HomeCorp (Montclair)
  • 7th Day Adventist Soup Kitchen
  • Food delivery/tour soup kitchen in Newark (early afternoon)
  • Daughters of Miriam - TNT Glee performance and friendly visiting (early afternoon)

Minimum contribution of $5 per family is requested to cover cost of additional supplies.
