Officials Act as Personal Shoppers in Charitable Back2School Event

Each year, tthe National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) hosts a Back2School program every year where low income children can select items they need to start the school year off ready to learn.

For the event, Bnai Shalom in West Orange was set up like a store. The children were each given an NCJW volunteer personal shopper to guide them through the “store” to choose a new knapsack filled with school supplies, new coat, new clothes, and brand new sneakers.

While the children were shopping, the parents were directed to a resource fair where they learned about services that can further assist them. Bloomfield Human Services was given the opportunity to send 75 children to this program.
