At This Critical Moment: What Next For Our International Security?



 


Jonathan Granoff is a respected and renowned author and speaker on nuclear disarmament. He is President of the Global Security Institute and also Co-Chair of the Task Force on Nuclear Nonproliferation of the American Bar Association. Mr. Granoff serves on numerous governing and advisory boards including the governing council of the American Bar Association International Law Section and the Jane Goodall Institute, and is a Fellow in the World Academy of Arts and Science.  


An active and authoritative advocate at the United Nations, Mr. Granoff has testified before the Secretary-General's Advisory Board on Disarmament Matters in 2006 and in 2007. He has been a presenter at the UNESCO-sponsored Universal Forum of Cultures, and moderated panel events with Mikhail Gorbachev, Ted Turner, and Robert McNamara at the United Nations.


Equally engaged in Washington, DC, he regularly consults Members of Congress and their staff, and has testified before the United States House of Representatives' Committee on Government Reform, Subcommittee on National Security, Emerging Threats, and International Relations.


Every year since 2002 he has addressed the Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, several times representing the Nobel Peace Laureate Organization, the International Peace Bureau.  He has been highly involved in the drafting of Nobel Laureates statements, including the Rome Declaration and Charter for a World Without Violence signed by the Laureates and Laureate Organizations.


Mr.  Granoff is the award-winning screenwriter of The Constitution: The Document that Created a Nation, and has articles in more than 50 publications and books including: The Sovereignty Revolution, Toward a Nuclear Weapons Free World, Imagining Tomorrow, Analyzing Moral Issues, Perspectives on 911, Toward a World In Balance, Reverence for Life Revisited, and Hold Hope, Wage Peace. He is a regular contributor to Tikkun and The Huffington Post.


He is honored with being the namesake of the renowned Sufi Saint Bawa Muhaiyaddeen, with whom he studied since his youth, as Ahamed Muhaiyaddeen. In that capacity he has lectured extensively on the Sufi Path of Love at spiritual conferences the world over, including Morocco.
