A...MY NAME IS ALICE

NiCori Studios and Productions in association with Oakeside Bloomfield Cultural Center proudly announce three benefit performances of "A...MY NAME IS ALICE" on November 16 at 8pm, 17 at 8pm, and 18 at 2pm at the Oakeside Bloomfield Cultural Center.

"A...MY NAME IS ALICE" is a musical review conceived by Joan Micklin Silver and Julianne Boyd.  The musical revue was a production of The Women's Project that played at "The Top of the Gate" at The Village Gate, New York City, from November 2, 1983 through November 14, 1983, and then opened in the basement space of the American Place Theatre, New York City, on February 24, 1984 through March 11, 1984.

The show features songs by Marta Kauffman, co-creator of the sitcom Friends,  Emmy Award-winning composer Glen Roven, Broadway composer and sister to Carly Simon, Lucy Simon, and Singer/Songwriter Amanda McBroom who wrote "The Rose", which was made famous by Bette Midler.

NY Times reviewer, Frank Rich, states, "To be sure, A . . . My Name Is Alice is a small - scale entertainment, but you're likely to emerge from its underground home feeling a real lift."

The cast features an ensemble of five area actresses:  Terri Gorgone, Sahirah Johnson, Deborah Martin, Corinna Sowers-Adler and Cindy Summers.

Terri Gorgone is the Musical Theater Director at the Cicely Tyson School of the Performing Arts.  Sahirah Johnson has been a professional recording artist since the age of 15 and appeared in the national tour of "Rent".  Deborah Martin is a published composer: THE PRINCESS,THE POET, and the LITTLE GREY MAN and is on the faculty of the Wilson School and the New Jersey School of Dramatic Arts.  Corinna Sowers-Adler was named one of NYC's top 15 cabaret singers by Nitelife Exchange and is the Artistic Director of Oakeside's "Music at the Mansion" series.  Singer Cindy Summers was a featured performer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
