UPDATE: Tornado Watch Expires
National Weather Service had issued a tornado watch for Bloomfield until 8 p.m. this evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch effective until 8 p.m. for the following counties: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union.
A cold front is expected to sweep through the area this afternoon and could potentially bring severe thunderstorms into the evening hours.
A Tornado Watch indicates that weather conditions are favorable for tornados to occur. According to FEMA, people are advised to watch the skies and listen to the radio or television for further updates. For more information on what to do in the event of a tornado, click here.
