Today is Presidents Day

Schools are closed today. Find out what else you need to know on this holiday.

Today, Feb. 21, is Presidents Day, officially known as George Washington’s birthday, and it is observed on the third Monday in February. The holiday was shifted from Feb. 22 to the third Monday in February in 1971 under the terms of the Uniform Monday Holiday Bill of 1968. Because the holiday falls between Feb. 15 and 21, it can never fall on the actual anniversary of Washington's birth in 1732.

Here are five things you need to know to get you through the day:

—A state and federal holiday, post offices and financial markets will be closed. Bloomfield public schools are also closed today for winter recess.
