Mayor McCarthy Not Running for Fifth Term

At a Friday afternoon press conference at the Bloomfield municipal building, Mayor Raymond McCarthy announced he will not seek reelection. McCarthy said “the time was right” to step down and he welcomed the chance to dedicate more time to his work as a real estate appraiser. Readers reacted to the news in a Patch poll. 

Two men were arrested for selling prescription pills near the Grove Sreet train station following an investigation into drug dealing in the area, Bloomfield Police said. According to the police, they had Xanax, Percocet pills and Suboxone and nine Suboxone pills when arrested.

Brookdale Students Put on 'Wax Museum'

On May 22, the Brookdale Fifth Graders presented a living wax museum to the school. Students dressed as their American figure and recited the important facts that they had learned during their research. Subjects included Charles Lindbergh, Louis Armstrong and Shirley Temple.
