The Bloomfield Police Department made several arrests in connection with robberies that occurred in February and March. Police say the robberies include the March 8 street crime where four assailants jumped and robbed a 44-year-old Bloomfield man and that two of the suspects were allegedly involved in a failed robbery of a liquor store involving a fake gun. 

Tick Tock Diner Manager Charged in Murder-for-Hire Plot

The manager of the iconic Tick Tock Diner in Clifton tried to have his uncle killed in an elaborate murder-for-hire plot, state police said at a news conference Wednesday. Georgios Spyropoulos, 45, of Clifton was arrested Monday at the diner. His uncle, Alexandros Sgourdos, 57, of Clifton, who co-owns the diner, was the intended victim, authorities said.

Report: County Exec Spent $15k On Meals

A report filed with a state election commission reveals Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. has used money in his campaign coffers to cover $15,222 worth of meals at 30 different restaurants — all labeled as campaign meetings, according to a published report Tuesday.

Bloomfield Offering Homelessness Prevention Funds

In an effort to serve Bloomfield’s residents who have fallen behind in their rent, mortgage or utilities due to circumstances beyond their control, the township’s office of Bloomfield Health & Human Services Department prepared and submitted a grant request to the County of Essex for Social Services Homelessness Prevention funding.
