Gov. Chris Christie to be more candid with voters Thursday at Rider University in Lawerence. Christie took the stage with Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana in a public forum sponsored by the university. Both men have had to fend off calls to run for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

New Brunswick residents about the shooting death of a man early Thursday morning. The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office said Barry E. Deloach, 47, was shot and killed in an alley after being pursued by New Brunswick Police Officers. Residents questioned why Deloach was shot.

Part of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's $100 million donation to Newark schools will in the form of grants to develop innovative classroom programs. The philanthropy group that manages the money announced the 2-year, $600,000 initiative on Wednesday. Teachers can receive up to  $10,000 for programs.

After the Make-a-Wish Foundation helped a him realize his dream of swimming with dolphins in Florida, a Hopatcong boy with a brain tumor hopes to reach their dreams as well. Brandon Vanderhoof, 13, will lead "Team Dolphin" in the Make-a-Wish Foundation's Walk for Wishes at Liberty State Park in Jersey City. Vanderhoof's goal is to raise $950.

With two critically disabled children, the Veliz family is near its financial breaking point. Their daughter Tierney, 22, is paralyzed from the chest down after her car flipped in Marksboro, just two weeks after she graduated from college.

A West Milford High School sophomore was critically injured Friday morning when he ran into the path of a township school bus, authorities said. The 15-year-old was in stable condition late Friday, said John Patrelli, the West Milford school superintendent. Authorities did not release the student's name.
