Bloomfield Schools Supt. Jason Bing Resigning

Bloomfield Schools Superintendent Jason Bing is leaving the school district, according to published reports. The Bloomfield School Board is planning to accept his resignation at their next meeting, on May 1, the Independent Press reported today through confirmation by board member Shane Berger. Bing did not respond to a request for comment

The man wanted in connection with the weekend shooting death of a Belleville man in Bloomfield surrendered to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office today. According to a report on NJ.com, his lawyer Steve Brown stressed his innocence but otherwise Tonic did not offer comment.

Missing Bloomfield Man’s Body Found

Police in Bergen County have identified a body discovered over the weekend as 21-year-old Bloomfield resident Nycal Velasquez. Police had been searching for the 21-year-old Bloomfield resident since his abandoned car, which reportedly contained a suicide note, was found in Fort Lee in late March.

Dozens of Runners Compete in Berkeley School 5K

The Second Annual Berkeley School 5K Run/Fitness Walk drew dozens of runners and supporters on Sunday. The race was organized to benefit Berkeley Elementary School Students through enrichment activities, scholarships, school trips, after-school programs, supplies, yearbooks, graduation and other activities.
