Restaurant Week is Coming to Bloomfield!
Local businesses and restauranteurs join forces to make the event a success
All over Bloomfield, local business owners are busy making plans for the township's first-ever Restaurant Week, scheduled for March 4-10, 2012.
During that week, restaurants will be offering dinner specials all week, such as Prix Fixe menus and discounted 2- and 3-course meals. Restaurant Week is a coordinated effort by restauranteurs and local businesses to encourage residents to try new dining experiences in town. They even hope it will attract patrons from nearby towns.

"We have people coming from all over," said Linda Barucky, a member of the "We want to broaden our reach."
Currently, 22 establishments are participating in Restaurant Week. Some are well-known Bloomfield favorites, such as , and House, while others are relative newcomers like and The Orange Squirrel. However, each participating restaurant is sure to offer an exceptional dining experience with excellent food and service.

Francesco Palmieri, owner of The Orange Squirrel and member of the , said towns like Montclair, Millburn and Maplewood have hosted similar events with success. “It will benefit the township and help organize the flow of commerce," . "Hopefully people will say, 'let’s take a chance on Bloomfield'.”
Recently, Patch again spoke to Palmieri as he was going around town visiting restaurants participating in the event. He said the committee has received generous support from local businesses but continues to actively seek more sponsorships. "It will only benefit the community," he said.
Sponsorships can be arranged in three categories: platinum, gold and silver. To find out more information, call 201-207-6031 or email Barucky at: lmb60@comcast.net.
"We're almost ready to print up prmotional materials," noted Barucky, "but we're still taking sponsorship requests."
Both Palmieri and Barucky expressed excitement at the prospect of Restaurant Week in Bloomfield.
"If a restaurant has a good reputation, people will come. Stamna has customers that come from South Orange and West Orange," said Barucky, referring to the quaint Greek eatery on Broad Steet near Watchung Avenue. "When you go to a restaurant, it's more than just dinner. All the way from The Orange Squirrel to Bella Napoli, there's so much going on."
