FLIC Spa: "A Vacation Without the Flight”

Reader's Choice winner this week is Bloomfield's favorite "staycation" spot -- a full-service spa with lots of love

This week Patch’s Reader’s Choice Poll asked, “What is Your Favorite Place for a Staycation?”

For Bloomfield readers, the choice was clear:  FLIC Spa, at 388 Broad Street.

After all, what better place to “get away from it all” -- right in town -- than a full-service spa that calls itself a “vacation without the flight” ?

As many people will attest, there is nothing quite like Flic Spa in Bloomfield.  Its exotic appearance and mood of tranquility entices visitors to enter the storefront and tasteful boutique.  Inside, an artistic fountain, paintings, sculptures and imported textiles create a lovely ambiance beside the displays of jewelry, lotions, soaps, handbags and unique objects.

But behind the dramatic, floral-carved silver door is where the real magic happens at Flic Spa.

Among the services offered are seven different types of massage, among them  Swedish, deep tissue, aromatherapy, pre-natal, hot stone therapy, foot and reflexology, as well as four healing massages: Lomi-Lomi, Jamu, Hilot and “Flic Signature.”

Body Treatments include Slim and Tone, Purify, and Hydrate.  Seven types of facials include the Nourishing mask, the Rejuvenating Mask, the Anti-oxidant Mask, Sothy’s Seasonal Treat, Brightening Mask, Clay Mask and Gentleman’s Mask.

Three different “Couples Retreats” are offered, featuring luxuriant treats that can last as long as 2.5 hours.  A blissful aromatherapy massage for two, with heated oils of apricot, grapeseed and jojoba, a luxe foot soak with rose petals, and complimentary champagne and chocolates are some of the options.

Bloomfield residents and owners Lerrick Santos and Oliver DiMaya have owned the business for three years.  For them, Flic Spa is not just a business, it’s a philosophy.

“We wanted to create a place of love,” says Santos.  “When you go into a place you can feel if there’s love there.  We help people every day.  They come in broken.  They come in stressed.  We give them an hour of peace and beauty.”

Adds the Flic Spa website, “We strive every day to foster an atmosphere of warmth and sincerity, where your comfort and well-being are our priorities.

Our treatments are inspired by the traditional healing arts of ancient cultures in the Pacific, which are strongly rooted in sacred dance rituals, martial arts and the movement of the life force within all of us.”

So next time you need a vacation, consider escaping right in town with a Flic Spa “staycation.”
