Fireworks Postponed Till Thursday Because of Rain

The Department of Recreation announced that Bloomfield's 4th of July Bicentennial fireworks spectacular will be postponed to July 5th.

 

The threat of rain yesterday postponed the annual 4th of July Fireworks display to tonight, July 5th.

Despite sunny skies, Recreation Department Director Mike Scuerman released an announcement on Wednesday morning that said, "Due to last night’s inclement weather and the forecasted early evening thunderstorms on Wednesday, July 4th, the Bloomfield Recreation Department has decided to postpone the 4th of July Celebration for the safety and well being of our residents.

"Fireworks will take place at Foley Field on Thursday with gates opening at 5:30 PM. The opening ceremonies will start at 7:30 PM, entertainment via the band “The Kootz” will start at 8:00 PM and the fireworks spectacular and a special bicentennial finale will launch at approximately 9:20 PM.

"Please remember that there will be limited bleacher seating around the field so please bring a folding chair or blanket.  Only blankets will be allowed on the track or football field."

The weather service's forecast for Bloomfield warned of possible thunderstorms on Wednesday night, with clear skies predicted for Thursday night.
