The Peking Acrobats and JIGU! Thunder Drums of China Come to NJPAC

Show will be held Sunday at 3 p.m.

Performing atop a pagoda of chairs, trick-cycling and gymnastics are among the gravity defying feats that The Peking Acrobats and JIGU! Thunder Drums will bring to Prudential Hall on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Among many unbelievable acts of athleticism, the troupe entered the Guiness Book of World Records for the tallest-ever Human Chair Stack, which included six performers precariously set atop six chairs—21 feet in the air, without safety lines.

The Peking Acrobats have also been prominently featured on television and film, including Ocean’s 11, Unfabulous and ABC’s Wide World of Sports.

Tickets are $19-$59, and are available by telephone at 1-888-466-5722, at the NJPAC Box Office at One Center Street in downtown Newark, and at www.njpac.org. To purchase tickets for groups of 10 or more, call 973-297-5804.

Touring internationally for over 30 years, The Peking Acrobats remain committed to bring their unique and ancient art form into the 21st century and were honored to be selected by HDNet and NBC/Comcast for incorporating high definition and 3D technologies into their television performances.

Accompanying The Peking Acrobats will be the acclaimed JIJU! Thunder Drums.

Hailing from the Shanxi Province in China, this talented group of percussionists and musicians has been thrilling audiences for almost 20 years.  With performances deeply rooted in Chinese culture they blend both traditional and modern elements.  Ranging in age from 16-30 JIJU! Thunder Drums has been the recipient of numerous awards including four gold medals in the National Star Awards in China, and they also performed at several events during the Beijing Olympic Games.
