'Music at the Mansion' Continues at Oakeside on Sunday

Cabaret icon Sidney Myer will lead July edition of local concert series.

The new installment of the monthly concert series, "Music at the Mansion," kicks off Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bloomfield's Oakeside Cultural Center

Performers include Gerardo "Gerry" Mastrolia, Members of Opera Theatre of Montclair and Lisa Viggiano. The featured performer in the "Young Musician Moment" will be Amber Smith.

Gerardo "Gerry" Mastrolia, 18, is currently working on his first New York City Cabaret show, "Me, Myself & Goldie," which will play on September 28 at Don't Tell Mama NYC.

Mastrolia was a finalist in the first installment of "New York's Next Top Drag Queen" at the Metropolitan Room. Mastrolia was also recently on the CBS show "The Couch" and on E! News for his work in the Off-Broadway show, "Totally Tubular Time Machine.”

Soprano Mia Riker-Norrie, the General Director of Opera Theatre of Montclair will direct singers from the Opera Theatre in the performance.  Norrie, who lives in Montclair with her husband and three children, had garnered praise from the New York Times for her “sterling control and brassiness worthy of Ethel Merman."  Mia will be joined by John Petrozino, baritone and Sabrina Palladino, soprano.

Since its launch in January, 2013, the Opera Theatre of Montclair has engaged in aggressive fundraising efforts with the hope of presenting full-length, fully-staged and costumed opera with orchestra in and around Montclair.  The planned opening production is Verdi's Nabucco.
