Monday Movie at the Library -- "ATLANTIC CITY"

Many consider Burt Lancaster’s portrayal of a numbers runner to be the greatest role in his esteemed career. As Lou, a small-time criminal longing to be a notorious gangster, he meets up with Sally (Susan Sarandon) who is training to become a casino dealer. Unfortunately, Sally’s drugdealing husband (Robert Joy) returns home with cocaine he stole from the Mafia. Kate Reid almost steals the show as an ex-beauty queen and widow of a mobster. Watch for Robert Goulet in a cameo singing the title song. Nominated for five Oscars including Best Picture, Best Actor (Lancaster), Best Actress (Sarandon) and Best Director (Louis Malle)
