Ella Fitzgerald, First Lady of Song, a film and discussion
The Bloomfield Public Library is pleased to present Ella Fitzgerald, First Lady of Song, a film and discussion on April 16, 2011 at 1pm in the Library Theatre.
Ella Fitzgerald was the most popular female jazz singer in the United States for more than half a century. She won 13 Grammy awards and sold over 40 million albums. Known as the “First Lady of Song,” she was a flexible and wide-ranging musician. She worked with all the jazz greats and performed at top venues around the world.
This one hour film presentation will be followed by a discussion led by Robert S. Gold, a resident of Montclair, and a teacher of jazz appreciate for local continuing education programs. Mr. Gold has written a number of works about jazz including two books that can be found in the reference section of the library. A Jazz Lexicon and Jazz Talk. The Bloomfield Public Library would like to thank Mr. Gold for his generosity in volunteering to make this program available to our patrons.
