Favorite tellers from the previous 19 years of the festival’s storied past, will regale you with the magic of story—humorous, ghostly, enchanted, and wise—from 12 noon to 6:00 pm Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ.

Back by popular demand will be a Story Slam, the newest iteration of spoken word performance featuring personal stories. Festival audience members who come prepared with a five-minute story on the theme “20/20 Hindsight” may be chosen at random to perform it.

Before the afternoon’s fun gets started, two workshops will be offered from 10 am to noon (fee includes park admission and afternoon storytelling performances; pre-registration at njstorynet.org required). For educators and those who work with children and adolescents, Michele Belluomini will lead “Imaginations Take Flight! Storytelling for Teachers and Students.” Those interested in exploring their Irish roots, real or longed for, may join Yvonne Healy and explore “The Irish Storytelling Tradition.”

The festival’s finale will be a set by Quiet Riot, two brothers whose unusual collection of life experiences—including having harvested cotton in Israel, worked on off-shore oil rigs, and built a courthouse in Australia—inspire their repertoire. Quiet Riot has given over 5,000 presentations at venues such as the NASA Goddard Space Center, Lincoln Center, and the National Storytelling Festival.

Come for some or stay for all. The festival happens rain or shine with indoor and outdoor sites and is free with park admission: Adult $12; Senior $10; Child age 6-17 $8; Age 5 and under free. Lunch is available for purchase.

Grounds For Sculpture is located at 18 Fairgrounds Road in Hamilton (for online driving directions, use 126 Sculptors Way, Hamilton, NJ 08619); call (609) 586-0616 or visit www.groundsforsculpture.org.
