Essex Photo Club Clicks With Contest Winners

The Essex Photo Club has announced the winners of its first-ever photo contest.

At the top of the heap is Heather Gillis of West Orange. The amateur photographer will be “Having a Good Time” with the $125 in gift certificates to Unique Photo in Fairfield she won for her image, “Tunnel of Love.”

Incidentally, “Having a Good Time” is the category she won, as well as Best in Show, for a photo depicting a child with huge grin on his face playing in a tunnel.

More than 110 entries were received from photographers in Essex, Morris, and Passaic counties in the contest co-sponsored by Unique Photo, according to Essex Photo Club President Howard Knauer. 

“We conceived of this event as a way of interesting and attracting new members,” said Knauer. “We were surprised at the level of expertise that many of the entrants exhibited, but we also know that all those who entered could improve their photographic capabilities by joining a camera club like ours.”

The Essex Photo Club is entering its 61st year and meets at the , generally on the first and third Thursdays of each month, September through May.
