WHY GO:   This charming musical is based on the 1996 film of the same name.  It details the story of a young woman who is released from prison and decides to start a new life in a small mid-western town.  She finds a place for herself working at the Spitfire Grill. But she – and the town – has old wounds that need healing, and it takes an unusual contest to pull everyone together to learn from one another and about themselves.

Over 160 exhibitors from New Jersey and throughout the Northeast will exhibit their jewelry, furniture, glass, fiber, pottery, oils, watercolors, serigraphs, photography, leather, sculpture, wood and more.  The show will be accented with music and a variety of ethnic foods.   Unlimited parking is available from the Watchung Ave. entrance. The free to the public show is open on Saturday and Sunday - rain or shine.

WHY GO:   A fun-filled family 5K event with exhibition booths, food, music and kid-friendly activities. Participants may walk, roll, run or rollerblade around the park. Two certified courses (5k and 8K) for “professionals.”   This event helps support research that helps people regain the skills needed for greater independence - like walking, driving, regaining lost memory, and the ability to communicate.  Service pets and friendly family pets are welcome!

WHY GO: Essex County is offering a free, outdoor showing of Monster House (PG) where three teens discover that their neighbor's house is really a living, breathing, scary monster.  Safe family fun!

WHY GO:  Celebrate the fall harvest Turtle Back Zoo style.  Enjoy a day at the zoo.  Kids get a free pumpkin (while supplies last).

WHY GO:  Come visit this creepy genetically modified food processing factory as an “employee.” You will meet your deranged co-workers and see what the boss is feeding them for lunch. Beware: Many of the new employees don't make it through the night shift!
COST:   $30 For Rapid Processing Ticket (VIP), $18 for Adults, $15 for Children 12 and under.   ** “Not-so-Scary” Kids’ Sunday Matinees from 2 pm-6 pm. Tickets are $8 a person and adults must be accompanied by a child age 12 and under.

WHY GO: Haunted House, Games, Hay Rides, Food, Arts and Crafts, Halloween Dance Classes, Urban Legend Storytime, Concerts, Parties and More!
COST:  Admission to the stadium is free, but most activities will have a fee. Admission to the haunted house is $20 for adults and $15 for students. The hayride is $5, and games are $1. Mystery dinner reservations must by made by the Wednesday prior and cost $20, or $25 for dinner with wine/beer.
