Registration is happening all this week for kids’ and adults’ activities at the Bloomfield Recreation Department, including summer camps, sports clinics and adult fitness classes.  Click here for more information.

Monday, July 16

At 12:15 pm you can see “ONE FOR THE MONEY” at the , 90 Broad Street.  The film is part of the Monday Afternoon at the Movies weekly event.  Admission is free.

The Bloomfield Township Council meets at 7:00 pm in Town Hall. 1 Municipal Plaza, 2nd Floor, Municipal Building.  As of this writing, the agenda had not been published: check this website for details.

Also on Monday night: A one-night fundraiser, “A Jersey Voice,” will play at the Westminster Center for the Arts on the campus of Bloomfield College at 7:30 p.m. John Michael Coppola, former Bloomfield resident and a cast member of the Chicago company of  “Jersey Boys,” will perform song selections from the 1940's through today, made popular by such artists as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. 

Reception will follow the performance.  Tickets are $35.00, available by phone 973-748-9000 ext. 1279 or  online: www.4thwalltheatre.org.  

 

Tuesday, July 17:  The 2012 Battle of the Barristers (BOTB) Softball Tournament. Preliminary division games will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Brookdale Park, followed by a championship game at 6:30 p.m. at Yogi Berra Stadium on the Montclair State University campus. Admission is free with an all-you-can-eat BBQ from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Gates open from 6–10 p.m.

This is a fundraiser for the Fresh Air Fund.  Teams make donations based on their ranking and the kinds of plays they made: a home run costs $125, grand slams $500 and double plays or strikeouts $125. The minimum a team pays is $5,750; the maximum is $8,500.  For more info, click here.

 

BEAT THE HEAT!  Residents can cool off and enjoy the music of Kenny Vance and the Planotones, who perform Tuesday July 17th, at the air conditioned Bloomfield High School Auditorium at 7:00PM.  This free summer concert will take place is presented courtesy of the Bloomfield Recreation Department.  Free admission. 

 

Wednesday, July 18: “Sing Along with Your Librarians."  The Children’s librarians will be on stage in the Theater, singing and playing the piano. 2:00 pm

, 90 Broad Street.  Free. No registration necessary. 

 

Thursday, July 19, the Bloomfield Farmers Market

1:00 pm Bloomfield Ave & Liberty Street, Free.

 

Friday, July 20

CBS News national correspondent and anchor Jim Axelrod will speak on “Karma and the News,” at Temple Ner Tamid, 936 North Broad Street in Bloomfield.  The talk, following the Friday evening Kabbalat Shabbat service at 6:30 pm., is part of Temple Ner Tamid’s summer-long series featuring community members and leaders speaking on political, social and religious issues.

 

Jazz Under The Stars featuring The Muzzy Mercado Group and Ken Navarro

7:30 pm Brookdale Park. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy the music
