Check out some of the events going on this week.

On Monday,  the town council will have a council meeting at 7 p.m. The meeting will be in the second floor council chambers in the municipal building.

The Bloomfield Public Library will have a free film at 12:15 p.m. on Monday. This week the featured movie is "The Birds." A wealthy socialite (Tippi Hedren) drives to a coastal town in California to visit handsome Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor). Their romantic weekend is shattered when birds begin a series of vicious attacks on the townspeople. Director Alfred Hitchcock based this chiller on a story by Daphne du Maurier. The movies are held in the library theater.

The Municipal Clerk Louise M. Palagano has announced that residents interested in registering to vote should visit her office Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in Room 214 of the Municipal Building.

Back-to-School Night at Bloomfield Middle School is Thursday at 7 p.m.

Don’t miss the free blood pressure screening on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The screenings are held at town hall in the nursing office (lower level).

Also on Thursday, the Bloomfield Public Library will feature a free film at 12:15 p.m. This week's film is “The Night Must Fall." A charming young man, Danny (Robert Montgomery), becomes a live-in companion to a rich and crotchety invalid, Mrs. Bransom (Dame May Whitty). When a murder occurs, Mrs. Bransom’s niece (Rosalind Russell) suspects Danny of foul play. The National Board of Review named this suspenseful classic Best Film of 1937.
