PHOTOS: Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa at Town Hall
Girls scouts, boy scouts and the Bloomfield High School Choir filled the night with singing as the town celebrated the season
Monday night's annual tree lighting ceremony and holiday sing-along was fun for all, with youthful singers -- Boy scouts, girl scouts and the Bloomfield High School Choir -- free refreshments, and the timed lighting of the trees and star above the door of Town Hall.
Everything went without a hitch, from the musical entertainment -- the kids sang a selection of classic Christmas carols beautifully -- to the perfect weather, which was clear and pleasantly warm for December.

Mayor McCarthy, coming forward to lead the countdown for the lighting of the trees, thanked the Bloomfield Department of Recreation and Director Michael Scuerman for sponsoring the well-organized event.
After the trees glowed with strings of multi-colored lights, a special guest arrived by fire truck: Santa Claus. For over an hour, children of all ages stood patiently in line waiting to meet him. After discussing what they wanted for Christmas, they came away with candy canes and smiles.
