Curious about the Morris Canal? Or would just like to know more about the history of Bloomfield? Then check out the Bloomfield Historical Society, located at 90 N. Broad St. The organization runs the Children's Museum, located on the third floor of the library at 90 Broad St.
For another taste of local history, make a visit to the Bloomfield Cemetery at 32 Belleville Ave., where 32 soldiers from the Revolutionary War are buried. A map of the graves can be obtained at the cemetery office.
It may currently be known as the at 409 Franklin Street, but in previous years, it was known as the Davis Homestead. Local lore says that George Washington stopped by there and there is a tunnel in the building that was used as an escape route.
Enjoy a cold beverage and a sports game on television at the Town Pub, located at 378 Broad Street. Did you know, it used to be called the Mansion House when it was opened in 1893 and horse carriages would bring patrons by for a meal? After that, it was called Ye Old Tavern.
If you want to be outside on a beautiful sunny day, check out Essex County's Brookdale Park, the 121-acre county park located in Bloomfield and Montclair. An Olmsted brothers park that was constructed beginning in 1930. There are a variety of things to enjoy at the park, a track, tennis courts, playgrounds, an archery area and a dog park.
