"Keeping it Safe" Identity Theft Seminar Dec. 15

Bloomfield Public Library joins with Sovereign Bank to teach residents to protect themselves against identity theft

 

Last year about 8.6 million households saw someone victimized by identity theft, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics.

This month, the Bloomfield Public Library is doing its part to try to help educate consumers about identity theft and how to keep themselves safe.

On December 15 at 2:00 pm, the library is hosting a seminar called “Keeping it Safe: Identity Protection Education,” by Melissa Jaipal, the branch manager at Sovereign Bank in Bloomfield.

The seminar will give information on laws that protect consumers, offer tips on how to avoid scams, protect your identity and resolve complaints about your bank account. Those who attend the seminar will also be given a take-home guide filled with resources for further information.
