Did Someone Help You During/After the Storm? Say Thank You on Patch!

Recognize them for their generosity and care here on Patch.

Did someone let you crash on their couch? Cook you a warm meal? Take care of your dog? Shovel you out? Let you watch your favorite TV show while your cable was out? Give you a ride?

Recognize the people that helped you after the Oct. 29 snow storm that knocked out power to more than half a million people in the NJ metro area.

In my apartment building many residents are 80-years-old or older. A snow storm presents many problems for them that younger people do not have to deal with.

When the power was severed to half of the building, the elevators turned off. This meant that residents, many with hip, back and knee problems, would have a very hard time getting up and down to move their cars so the superintendent could plow.

So all morning long the younger residents went back and forth between the elder's apartments and the parking lot, helping both their neighbors and the superintendent who was trying to plow so all the cars could get out.

Also throughout the building younger residents were helping their older counter-parts call their family for help, stay warm and travel throughout the halls.

I have heard stories of neighbors lending extra parts to others so they could run their generators, friends welcoming others into their homes and families cooking  for relatives who needed a hot meal.

Who helped you during the storm? While you probably already thanked them for their hospitality or help already, give them that extra recognition by publicly recognizing them and their good deed on Bloomfield Patch!

Leave your thank you in the comments below and post your photos here!
