Tree Lighting Ceremony Dec 5 and Children's Holiday Celebration Dec 10

Bloomfield Township invites residents to the annual tree lighting ceremony and children's holiday celebration

 

The Bloomfield Recreation Department welcomes friends, family and community members to attend their annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Children's Holiday Celebration.

"We like to offer things that promote togetherness," said Megan Schaffer, Bloomfield Recreation Department Supervisior. "We want, and hope, that these events bring people together to celebrate the holidays as a community."

The annual tree lighting ceremony, will take place on Monday, Dec.  5, from 7-9 pm at the Bloomfield Municipal Plaza.  The Children's Holiday Celebration will take place on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 1-4 pm at the Civic Center.

The holiday celebration will include activities such as arts and crafts, where children can make snowflake ornaments.  There will also be face painting, a Christmas movie, and a meeting with Santa.  Both the tree lighting and children's celebration are free of charge.  Light refreshments will be served.

"When residents enter on the day of the celebration, each is going to receive a welcome letter with a number on it," said Schaffer. "When that number is called, they will be able to go up and meet Santa, and have their picture taken. We ask that all residents bring their own cameras."

In addition to the Recreation Department, volunteers from Bloomfield High School will be on hand to assist the children and help make this a fun event for all ages.
