Bloomfield's First Paper Shredding Event Scheduled for May

Paper Shredding on May 5th; Electronics Recycling May 19th

The Bloomfield Recycling committee and the Department of Public Works and Park Maintenance will host the first annual community Paper Shredding event on Saturday, May 5th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the municipal parking lot located next to the Post Office.

Residents in the township are being provided the opportunity to bring all their personal documents to be shredded and recycled at no cost. Green Sky Industries, a company committed to recycling in Bloomfield, will provide a shredding truck, driver, and laborers for this event which will last for four hours or until the truck is full to capacity.

Bloomfield residents will be able to dispose of their files and documents safely at this time. The paper shredding day is an opportunity for residents to reduce identity theft and to help support responsible paper recycling.

The Recycling Committee will be on site providing educational materials on recycling.

Later in the month, on Saturday, May 19, the township joins forces with Shop-Rite and the Brookdale Christian Church to sponsor North End Electronics Recycling event.

From 9 a.m. until noon, residents can bring their unwanted electronics to the parking lot directly across the street from the Brookdale Christian Church and next to Shop-Rite on Broad Street. (Look for the Bloomfield DPW Recycling truck.)

Items accepted include: computers, printers, monitors, wire & cables, keyboards, mice, telephones, TVs under 32”, VCRs, DVD players, stereos and small appliances.

Recycling electronics keeps potentially hazardous materials out of the waste stream and the environment.
