Bloomfield Public Library - September Movies

Romance, Comedy, Drama and Fantasy - something for every film lover.

Every Monday and Thursday the Bloomfield Public Library shows a free film and everyone is welcome.   All films start at 12:15 PM in the barrier-free Library Theatre.

This month has a great selection of old film classics and newer films.  Here are the September movies.

Thursday, September 6th              We Bought a Zoo  (PG)
We Bought a Zoo is a 2011 comedy-drama film based on the 2008 memoir of the same name by Benjamin Mee .The film is directed by Cameron Crowe, and stars Matt Damon as the lead character. It tells the story of Mee and his family who just moved into a dilapidated zoo and took on the challenge of preparing the zoo for its reopening to the public.

Monday, September 10th             The Vow  (PG 13)
The Vow is a romantic drama  starring Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum, Sam Neill, Scott Speedman and Jessica Lange.  A car accident puts Paige in a coma, and when she wakes up with severe memory loss, her husband Leo works to win her heart again.            

Thursday, September 13th            I Don’t Know How She Does It  (PG 13)
I Don't Know How She Does It is a 2011 American comedy film based on Allison Pearson's novel of the same name. The film stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Pierce Brosnan, and Greg Kinnear.  A comedy centered on the life of Kate Reddy, a finance executive who is the breadwinner for her husband and two kids.

Monday, September 17th             Enchanted Cottage 
The Enchanted Cottage is a 1945 romantic fantasy starring Robert Young, Dorothy McGuire, and Mildred Natwick. A homely maid and a scarred ex-GI meet at the cottage where she works and where he was to spend his honeymoon prior to his accident. The two develop a bond and agree to marry, more out of loneliness than love. The romantic spirit of the cottage, however, overtakes them. They soon begin to look beautiful to each other, but no one else.

Thursday, September 20th            The Way  (PG 13)
The Way is a 2010 American drama film. It is a collaboration between Martin Sheen and his son Emilio Estevez.   A father heads overseas to recover the body of his estranged son who died while traveling the "El camino de Santiago," and decides to take the pilgrimage himself.

Monday, September 24th             Man on a Ledge  (PG 13)
Man on a Ledge is a 2012 American thriller film directed by Asger Leth, starring Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Jamie Bell and Ed Harris.  As a police psychologist works to talk down an ex-con who is threatening to jump from a Manhattan hotel rooftop, the biggest diamond heist ever committed is in motion.

Thursday, September 27th            Dangerous Crossing
Dangerous Crossing is a 1953 Black & white noirish, mystery film, directed by Joseph M. Newman and starring Jeanne Crain and Michael Rennie, When a beautiful bride goes on a ocean liner with her new husband, he goes into hiding, and she becomes the target of a murder conspiracy.
