The game went Bloomfield’s way until the last inning. Leading 10-2, the bullpen got into trouble before getting the last out.  The Locked-In Expos had the tying runs on base but Abplanalp finished.

The second game Saturday was against a strong New Jersey Nationals team but Corporan started and surrendered two hits over seven innings for a complete game shutout.

The Bombers got all the scoring they needed in the first. Piacenza and Abplanalp walked.  Piacenza scored on Dittrich’s fielder’s choice.

Piacenza scored on an overthrow and Dittrich doubled home Abplanalp.  Demo hit an RBI grounder to short and the Bombers were up, 4-0.

On Sunday, another Bombers team, the Frozen Rope Bombers from Pine Brook, stood in the way of Bloomfield finishing off the weekend with the sweep going 3-for-3.  The Bombers were confident from their two victories Saturday and hoped to put the Frozen Ropes away early.

That is exactly what happened.

The game was all about offense for Bloomfield who started off with a bang. There were a few walks from the Frozen Ropes pitcher and a couple of errors helped the Bombers get started. By the end of the first inning, the Bombers were up, 4-0.

Bloomfield put the game away in the bottom of the third inning. The inning did not start well as Corporan and Demo were retired. But that didn’t stop the Bombers bats. Kyle Tice started the rally with a base hit. DiMatteo drove in Tice with an RBI hit. The Bombers drew some walks and two bases loaded walks brought in a pair of runs.

Liam Bejasa kept the inning going by hustling out a dropped 3rd strike which scored Elliot Urgent.  Piacenza drove in two runs.  Abplanalp drove in two runs.  Corporan and Demo had RBI singles.  By the end of the inning the Bombers were up, 14-1.  The game ended in the fifth inning because of the mercy rule. So the Bombers win completed the 3 game weekend sweep.
