Living next to the United Way, I would see Ida at her desk. Whether it was in the morning, the middle of the after noon, or early in the evening, she would have a posative smile. It is a commodity that is lacking now a days. Whenever I pass by the business near my home a would give a wave to the owners or workers. It is a avenue I go down trying to keep continuity within the community.
I want to say that she will be missed because she was a good talker but also a great listener. And that is one of the best commodities in the world next to a true smile.
I think that she started with them in 1969, located on Bloomfield Avenue. That would amount to 45 years of service at the United Way, that is a life time for some.
I hope they gave her a nice sendoff, for all her efforts with that one entity?
Good luck to you Ida, and may you find another place to hang your hat.
