Two Bloomfield Gas Stations Robbed at Gunpoint
Three men reportedly robbed the Exxon and 7-Eleven gas stations, at 491 and 122 Bloomfield Avenue, respectively, on Friday.
Two Bloomfield Avenue gas stations were held up at gunpoint within minutes of each other before daylight Friday morning, according to Bloomfield Police.
The Exxon gas station, at 491 Bloomfield Ave., was robbed at by three men at approximately 5:37 a.m. Friday.
The gas station attendant told police a Dodge minivan drove up to the station and a man jumped out of the van with a mask covering his face. The masked man was armed with a handgun and he demanded the attendant’s money.
“Don’t move, give me your money,” the man reportedly said to the attendant, according to police.
The man with the handgun then reached into the attendant’s pocket and took about $200 in cash, according to reports. He then got back into the minivan with the two other men and fled west toward Glen Ridge.
The attendant described the man with the handgun as African American, thin and about 5-feet 7-inches tall, according to police reports.
Minutes later, the same minivan held up the 7-Eleven gas station, at 122 Bloomfield Ave.
This time, a man described as stocky and African American got out of the minivan wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt. Armed with a handgun, the man demanded the attendant hand over all the money. He took about $700 in cash, according to reports.
The armed man then got back into the minivan and all three suspects fled toward East Orange, according to police.
Both robberies are still under investigation, according to police.
