Tuesday 

• The Bloomfield Board of Education will convene at 7:30 p.m. in the district administration building, at 155 N. Broad St. 

Thursday 

• The Bloomfield Board of Health will meet 6:30 p.m. in Room 205 (the Mayor's Conference Room) of the municipal building, at 1 Municipal Plaza. 

• The Open Space Trust Fund Committee will meet at 7 p.m. in the  BVES Conference Room of the municipal building, at 1 Municipal Plaza.

Friday 

• All Bloomfield School District will have early dismissal today to kick off the holiday break. 

• Today is the winter solstice. The sun will skirt along its lowest course above the horizon and will mark the shortest day of 2012. The astronomical event will also begin the transition to longer days and shorter nights.
